The country shares international borders with Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east, and a disputed border with China in the north, the McMahon Line. Itanagar is Arunachal Pradesh's capital. Among the Seven Sisters of Northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh is the largest state by area. There is a 1,129 km border between Arunachal Pradesh and Tibet Autonomous Region, China.

Every dish in Arunachal Pradesh is incomplete without a few bamboo shoots. In this popular and traditional dish, the tender bamboo is marinated in baking soda, and ground spices are cooked on a low flame. It is a side dish that is hot and crispy. The bamboo shoots are eaten with chutneys, boiled vegetables and cooked meat.
Rice is the staple food of Arunachal Pradesh food with any dish as a side dish. The rice is cooked in two different ways. The first one is the unique and important method where rice is cooked in a hollow bamboo with some hot coal over it for a different flavor. It is a famous type of a pickle that is made by the Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the favorites and a popular accompaniment of food. Pika Pila is made by using bamboo shoot and pork fat with some king chilly.
Lukter is another delicacy of the state. It is made using cooked dry meat with chilly flakes from the King chilly or Bhut Jolokia. It is also a side dish and eaten with traditionally prepared rice.
Pehak is another side dish which is a type of spicy chutney. It is made by fermented soya bean and chilli. The chilly in it makes it hot and spicy. This dish is best served with steamed rice and Lukter. The flavoured rice with this chutney makes for a great dish.
Chura Sabzi is a type of a curry that is made by fermented cheese which is made by either yak milk or cow’s milk and some King chilly which makes the dish super spicy but delicious. This dish is also served with rice.
The Yomgo River Festival (Siang River Festival) is held to celebrate the communal harmony in Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier this festival was celebrated in the form of Brahmaputra Darshan Festival in Tezu and Pasighat but since the year 2005, the festival is celebrated as Siang River Festival in places like Tuting, Yingkiong and Pasighat.
It is one of the most popular festivals in Arunachal Pradesh and is an attempt to promote eco-tourism and offer a lot of adventure fun activities like elephant race, traditional boat race, Didi – the mock war game of Mishmis, River rafting, Food Festivals, Folk dances, Cultural Shows, Hot air balloon & Paragliding and Exhibition of local model house. Pangsua Pass Winter Festival (PPWF) is a three-day fest that takes place in the month of January each year.

An agriculture festival- Solung is celebrated in the month of monsoon. This 10 days festival is amongst the most famous festivals in North East India, especially celebrated by the Adi community in West Siang district, East Siang district, Lower Dibang Valley district, Upper Dibang Valley district and Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.The date for the festival is different each year and is decided by Kebang or the village council keeping the convenience of the villagers in mind and once the date is fixed the preparation of the local beer Apong starts. On the first day, the Indian Bison along with pigs are slaughtered in the early hours of the morning. On the second day, 1/3rd of the meat is distributed among the relatives; also, a grand dinner feast is arranged for neighbours, women and children.
Visiting Namdapha National Park is one of the best things to do in Arunachal Pradesh. This is the third-largest national park located in India and it spreads over 1985 sq.km ranges of 200 meters.
